Moon Phase Today: July 24, 2021
The Moon's current phase for today and tonight is a Full Moon phase. During a Full Moon the moon is 100% illuminated as seen from Earth and is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. The Moon will be visible throughout the night sky rising at sunset in the east and setting with the sunrise the next morning. The point at which a Full Moon occurs can be measured down to a fraction of a second. The time it takes between full moons is known as a Synodic month and is 29.530587981 days long.

It is Buck Moon
The Full Moon this days is the Buck of July 2021.

Sun-Earth-Moon syzygy
The Moon is in Full Moon geocentric opposition with the Sun today and this alignment forms Sun-Earth-Moon syzygy.

Spring tide
There is high Full Moon ocean tide today. Combined Sun and Moon gravitational tidal force working on Earth is strong, because of the Sun-Earth-Moon syzygy alignment.

Distance to Moon 374 984 km
Moon is 374 984 km (233 004 mi) away from Earth on this date. Moon moves farther next 8 days until apogee, when Earth-Moon distance will reach 404 412 km (251 290 mi).
Moon after perigee
3 days after point of perigee on 21 July 2021 at 10:30 in ♐ Sagittarius. The lunar orbit is getting wider, while the Moon is moving outward the Earth. It will keep this direction for the next 8 days, until it get to the point of next apogee on 2 August 2021 at 07:35 in ♉ Taurus.

Moon after southern standstill
1 day after previous South standstill on 22 July 2021 at 15:11 in ♑ Capricorn, when Moon has reached southern declination of ∠-25.643°. Next 12 days the lunar orbit moves northward to face North declination of ∠25.685° in the next northern standstill on 5 August 2021 at 16:46 in ♋ Cancer.
